HABITS define US

Habits are the daily choices that make us who we are.
Hence it is only natural that we relook at our daily habits every now and then to let go of old habits that don’t serve us and new ones that we need to cultivate for growth.
Here are few of the things I do, that support me in cultivating a new habit:
💡 I don’t try and incorporate too many new habits at the same time. 1 habit change at a time is best or max 2.
💡I write down what the new habit is?
💡I write down why do I want to incorporate this habit? How will it serve me?
💡I write down what existing habit do I need to give up to incorporate the new habit.
💡I listen and read inspiring material on the significance of this new habit to feed the motivation.
💡I identify the following key things:
a) What time of the day will I do this activity. Eg: I will practice gratitude in the night at 10:30pm.
b) After which action will I do this activity? Eg: I will practice gratitude as soon I get in bed.
c) How long will I do this activity for? Or how many rounds of the activity (an estimate of some numbers) Eg: I will express gratitude for 5 things in my day today.
d) How will I be doing this activity? Eg: I will write the 5 things I am grateful for daily in the journal that I will keep by my bedside.
💡I take ownership of my word by sharing it with my family, or my friend or putting out on social media.
💡I add it to my daily task list. I use the app Tick Tick and it is put up as a daily activity with a reminder 5 mins before 10:30pm.
💡Every 10 days for the first 30 days, I make a note of how the habit is serving me. It’s a good validation and motivation.
💡I allow myself to be lead by discipline rather than passion or love for the new habit. That way it is not dependent on my mood but is about showing up no matter what.
💡After completion of 1 month of the daily habit, I reward myself.. I celebrate
How do you cultivate a new habit?
